Oxfordshire's women have been relegated from AEGON Summer County Cup Group 5B after a disastrous 9-0 defeat at the hands of Gloucestershire in their final match of the week at Poole.
It means they finished their campaign bottom of the group with three defeats from three games.
Yesterday’s scoreline was exaggerated by Oxon conceding the final four rubbers with the match already lost.
But it cannot mask a disappointing week, which saw them pick up just six rubbers from a possible 18 over the three days.
It means that next season Oxon’s women will be just one division off the bottom group, having played in Group 1 at the start of the decade.
Oxfordshire 0, Gloucestershire 9 (Oxon scores first): Round 1 – C Taylor & E Marsdin lost to W Walls & E Hande 1-6,6-7 (3-7); L Purton & B Simmons lost to E Vicary & K Moore 3-6, 6-3, 3-6; I Wyatt & N Steward lost to G Hay & S Wilkinson 1-6, 6-7 (3-7). Round 2 – Purt & Simmons lost to Hay & Wilkinson 2-6, 2-6; Wyatt & Steward lost to Walls & Hande 6-3, 2-6,2-6.
Other matches conceded by Oxon.
