ALEXIS Canter lost 6-4, 6-3 to Italian eighth seed Francesco Vilardo at the Egypt F23 Men’s Future in Sharm El Shiekh.
He was beaten in the first round after winning three matches in qualifying.
Canter, 17, from Long Wittenham, beat Muhammad Ragy, Duncan Mugabe and Anatoliy Petrenko.
He is in the last eight of the doubles, partnering South African Joshua Chetty.
