Oxford Sports have had a fortnight to savour – both off court as well as on it.

In the last fortnight, the club have seen their men’s and ladies sides win the top divisions of the Thames Valley Winter League.

Coupled with more glory in lower leagues, Sports have been buoyed by their end to the season.

However, things got even better when a large group of members turned up at the opening of sports store Decathlon, in Botley on Wednesday night.

And there were so many of them that they were awarded £1,000 for being the best supported club at the launch.

Sports’ ladies won their league by seven points, winning 11 of their 13 matches, with a team mixing youth and experience.

The men won ten of their 12 games to triumph by five points.

They will be joined in the top-flight by their B team, won won their title, as did the C side in Division 3.

Sports, who also run a thriving junior section, will be holding four open days at their eight-court club on May 18, June 22 and 29, as well as July 19.

New members are encouraged to attend and try their hand.
