OXFORDSHIRE’S men had mixed success in the British Seniors Open Championship at Dudley.

Christian Petersen reached the last 16 of the over 40 singles before losing 6-1, 6-4 to Mark Hedley, of New Zealand.

In the over 50s, Russell Boulton won his first-round matches, but lost his next, as did John Spratt in the over 65s.

However, there was better news in the doubles.

Jon Merrifield, partnering Anthony Marchetti from Bucks, has reached the semi-finals of the over 60s event, while John Spratt is in the last four of the over 65s with Rennie Johnston, of Hampshire.
