OXFORD RL recorded their first win since June in beating University of Gloucestershire All Golds 28-26 in a thriller at the Prince of Wales Stadium.

Scott Fleming crossed twice in the Kingstone Press League 1 Shield clash, while Nathan Kitson scored eight points.

The visitors took the lead on three minutes when Andrew Hoggins crossed for an unconverted try.

All Golds pressed for a reply and Morgan Evans went over. Lewis Reece added the extras to give the hosts a 6-4 lead.

Oxford were dealt a double blow when they lost Luke Gardiner and Will Maher to injury, but it did not seem to affect them as Charlie Green burst through to score.

Kitson kicked the two points to make it 10-6.

All Golds hit back with Joe McClean crossing for an unconverted try.

But Oxford led 14-10 at the break, Josh Nathaniel running through to score.

The hosts were first out the blocks in the second half and levelled through Lamont Bryan’s unconverted try.

However, All Golds were made to pay for not finding touch from a penalty and Fleming scored for Oxford.

And three minutes later, the Blues made it 22-14 when Fleming dived over again.

But a Brad Kislingbury try, converted by Rowland, cut the advantage to two points.

Oxford responded when Kitson dived over and added the extras.

It proved just enough, despite a late converted try from Steve Parry for All Golds.
