OXFORD never recovered from a disastrous start as they fell to a 40-18 defeat away to North Wales Crusaders in Kingstone Press League One at Glyndwr University.

The visitors trailed 22-0 after 20 minutes after conceding tries to Kenny Baker, Ryan Smith, Jack Bibby and Scott Turner, three of which were converted.

But Oxford stormed back into the contest with three tries of their own.

Marcus Brooker went over after Clark McAllister palmed a high kick into his arms, a break from Tom Holmes put Nathan Kitson in under the posts, while Casey Canterbury barged his way through the home defence.

Kitson added one conversion to make it 22-14 at the break.

Crusaders were quicker out of the traps in the second half, though, scoring four more tries.

The Blues’ only response came from Jordan Siddons, who crashed over for his first try for the club.
