OXFORD RL’s winless start to the season continued in a 54-8 loss at Toulouse Olympique.
It could have been different for the Blues had they taken a couple of early chances in the Kingstone Press League 1 encounter.
Adam Flintham was unable to keep hold of the ball after Kieran Gill’s break, while the latter then suffered a broken arm after being taken out by Gavin Marguerite with the try line at his mercy.
Toulouse took the lead on five minutes when Kane Bentley went over and Mark Kheirallah converted.
Oxford struck back through Tom Holmes’ unconverted try, but the home side responded when Clemont Boyer went over. Kheirallah added the extras to make it 12-4.
Toulouse then scored three tries in five minutes with Gregory White, Rhys Curran and Marguerite crossing. Kheirallah converted twice for a 24-8 lead.
The French side continued in the same vein after the break as Arthur Gonzalez-Trique went over and Kheirallah added the extras.
Tony Maurel finished off a team move, before Mourad Kriouache dived over.
Toulouse’s dominance continued with Samy Masselot and Paul Marcon crossing within three minutes of each other. Khierallah converted both to make it 54-4.
Charlie Greene grabbed a late consolation try, converted by Clark McAllister.
