OXFORD RL were put to the sword by Rochdale Hornets as they conceded 13 tries in a 76-16 defeat at Spotland in Kingstone Press League 1.

It was a ruthless display from Hornets, who moved up to second in the table as Oxford slipped to fifth bottom.

Dale Bloomfield opened the scoring, before Danny Yates touched down.

Bloomfield crossed for his second after 19 minutes and Hornets scored again when substitute Warren Thompson eased over with one of his first touches.

Paul Crook converted all four tries for a 24-0 lead.

Jack Ashworth went over six minutes from the break. Yates converted.

Two minutes later, Oxford finally got on the board, as Andrew Hoggins picked up to cross.

Nathan Kitson added the extras.

However, the last word of the half went to Bloomfield, who completed his hat-trick for a 34-6 lead.

After the break, Matty Hadden grabbed a quick-fire brace for the hosts.

Yates knocked over both conversions.

There was no stopping Hornets as Anthony Walker powered over from close range. Crook converted.

Bridge showed good footwork to find the try line, before setting up Hargreaves for another score. Crook converted both tries.

Tony Suffolk then danced his way through a tiring Oxford defence, with Crook’s conversion taking his side to 70 points.

Oxford kept plugging away and were rewarded with a double consolation.

Ray Nasso crossed, before Luke Gardiner drove over out wide for a four pointer three minutes from time.

Kitson converted one of the scores.

Crook had the last say for Hornets as he charged over.

He maintained his perfect record with the boot by landing a ninth conversion.
