CONFERENCE LEAGUE SOUTH

OXFORD Cavaliers face having to pull out of the league if they cannot raise a side for their next match.

That is the message from manager JJ Baird after Cavaliers scratched their last two games against Leicester Storm, on Saturday, and Sheffield Hallam Eagles.

The club withdrew their A side from the West of England Premier League due to low player numbers, but the same problem, plus injuries, remains.

Posting on the club’s Facebook page, Baird said: “We have a game this Saturday at home to Valley Cougars and if we can not field a team by Tuesday, I will be pulling the plug on it for the remainder of the season.

“It may seem unfair, but we cannot waste the opponents’ time, my time and the RFL’s time any more.”

Injuries to players in the Oxford RL squad have seen many Cavaliers promoted, as their structure is designed to provide, but availability has now reached crisis point.
