CHINNOR’S key players have asked not to be rested during the final three games of the season despite already helping the club reach the play-offs.

The Thame-based side secured second place in National League 2 South last weekend.

They now need six more points to guarantee a home play-off against the North runners-up.

Chinnor’s director of rugby Matt Williams still makes five changes for tomorrow’s home game against Bury St Edmunds, handing starts to Ricky Cano, Rory Mason, Tom Ranaboldo, Alex Bradley and Bertie Hopkin.

But he has been impressed with his players’ attitude.

Williams said: “If I can have the luxury of resting people I will.

“But players do not like not playing, and I’ve had boys saying to me ‘please don’t rest me because we’ve got to get the job done’.”

Henley make three changes as they bid to arrest a three-match winless run at Worthing.

Joe Butler is at fly half, Connor Hayhow moves to the wing and Tom Hall returns in the back row.

In South West 1 East, Banbury closed to within four points of leaders Old Patesians with a bonus-point victory at home to Royal Wootton Bassett on Wednesday.

The Bulls, who entertain Wimborne tomorrow, won 24-10 to go six points clear of Chippenham, their rivals for the play-off spot.

Witney make two changes when they host Old Patesians.

Dave Hankinson and Tom Puddle replace the injured Arron Lambourne and Carl Strutt.

Jack Crowe returns for Oxford Harlequins at Old Centralians.

Relegated Grove and Bicester host Salisbury and Stratford-upon-Avon respectively.
