BICESTER’S chances of a seventh successive victory looked bright when they led visitors Buckingham 22-12 in their derby clash.

But Buckingham gained the ascendancy in the loose which led them to a 24-22 success in Southern Counties North.

After the visitors took early lead through James Hulston’s try, converted by Ed Kinman, Bicester bounced back with tries from winger Dave Aslett and prop Tom Horwood, one of which Tom Miles converted.

The visitors made it 12-12 at half-time when flanker Patrick Ockenden crossed for an unconverted try.

Bicester started the second half brightly, Miles landing a penalty and converting a try from Peter Tarrega, who collected a lose clearance kicked and raced over from 30 yards.

Buckingham bounced back with Ockendon speeding across for his second try.

After Bicester had Dan Spencer sin-binned for an off the ball incident, Buckingham hooker Matthew Payne was driven across for a try and Kinman’s conversion clinched a bonus-point win.

The hosts had a chance to snatch victory, but Miles’s last-minute drop goal attempt landed just short.

Gosford All Blacks never recovered from a traffic delay as they crashed to a 52-10 defeat at Beaconsfield.

The start was put back half-an-hour, but Gosford still had little time to prepare and trailed 24-3 at half-time, their points coming from Tim Ellis’s penalty.

Beaconsfield then ran riot, with winger Idrusu Labri completing a five-try show.

The visitors responded when Jack Briggs scored a try which Ellis converted.

Wallingford stormed to a 36-3 win at home to Bletchley.

WHEATLEY kept up the pressure at the top of the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Championship with a dominant 30-0 victory over visitors Oxford.
Caillin Taylor got the hosts started with an early try and although Aaron Laman missed the conversion, he put the hosts 11-0 up at half-time with two successful penalties.
Two more tries from Ian Muir after half-time, both converted by Laman, made it 25-0.
And Wheatley’s bonus point was assured shortly before the end when Jack Atkinson reacted quickest to pounce on a loose ball.
Laman’s conversion was just the wrong side of the post.
Harwell pushed hosts Berkshire Hall all the way as they were beaten 22-21.
Ollie Wiggs scored and then converted an early try to put the visitors 7-0 up, but the hosts hit back to lead 21-7 at half time with two tries and a conversion of their own.
A converted try early in the second half extended the home side’s advantage to 19-7, but a Lewis Giddings try, converted by Andy Lee, kept Harwell in touch.
A penalty for the home side ultimately put the game beyond Harwell, despite Wiggs scoring and converting again late on.
