VARSITY veteran John Carter knows a thing or two about beating Cambridge University at Twickenham.
The No 8, who captained Oxford to three victories between 2011-13, will be at the home of English rugby this afternoon to cheer on some of his former teammates.
The 34-year-old became the first skipper to secure three wins in a row in his last Varsity Match two years ago.
And with the Dark Blues on the verge of history, Carter says he would feel lucky to have played some part in their success and in building a strong team spirit at Iffley Road.
He added: “Witnessing the progress and development of a group and how everyone thrived when given the opportunity to do so was a truly meaningful experience.
“Over the long term, success perhaps encouraged and developed this type of environment.
“I feel very lucky to have been in a place that offers such a unique experience.”
