Man-of-the-match Tim Catling was still struggling to take in his magic display after the final whistle at Twickenham.
The 21-year-old wing took his term’s tally to 14 tries in nine games and proved the difference in a clash that had everything.
His performance even prompted suggestions he might have a professional contract thrown his way.
Catling said: “It was fantastic. I am still a bit in shock.
“Although in the last 20 minutes, I think I have come back down to earth.
“It has been a team effort throughout.
“We’ve played some great rugby. I have just put my head down and finished them off.
“I was unlucky not to get my Blue in my second year (2006), and that was a motivating force.”
Oxford director of rugby Steve Hill added: “Tim has matured fantastically in the last 18 months.
“Today is the icing on the cake.”
As for playing professionally, Catling, who was part of the London Irish academy, said: “I have got another year at Oxford with my studies and another rugby term to play.
“But I would definitely like to do it.
“I would like to take my rugby career to the highest level I can go.
“I haven’t really had my foot in the door so far.”
Hooker Anton Oliver added: “Cat just cruises along, he’s a wonderful guy."
