KIERAN Goss helped himself to a hat-trick as Chinnor kept their National League 2 South play-off hopes alive when beating Worthing 73-14.

The promotion hopefuls scored 11 tries as they remain level on points with Old Elthamians.

It was 21-0 after ten minutes when Ben Manning, Koree Britton and Luke Hibberd crossed. Jonny Bentley converted all three tries.

The all-important bonus point was secured on 25 minutes, when Goss dotted down.

Worthing hit back before half-time as Joe Watson-Brooks and Grant Gatford crossed, with Mathew McLean converting, to make it 26-14.

Chinnor, though, racked up seven tries in the second half.

Goss completed his hat-trick with two scores, while Ben Pienaar, Charlie Broughton, Bevon Armitage, Britton and Basil Strang crossed.

Bentley converted one of the tries, with Strang adding the extras on five occasions.

Henley lost 41-35 at London Irish Wild Geese.

David Hyde’s try, converted by Liam O’Neill, who was on target with all five kicks, put Hawks in front.

But Irish led 14-7 when Tyler Bush and George Owen crossed. George Kitching added the extras.

Hawks hit back to make it 21-14 as Harry Burn and Alan Awcock burst over.

Owen then scored his second try to reduce Henley’s lead.

In the second half, tries from Tom Hall and Burn put the visitors 35-19 up.

But Irish refused to give in and led 38-35, thanks to tries from Tom Richards, Kitching, who kicked four conversions, and Karl Gibson.

A late Kitching penalty secured victory.
