BERTIE Hopkin scored two tries as Chinnor made it nine straight victories with a 26-9 win at mid-table Cinderford in National League 2 South.

The leaders maintained their 100 per cent record, but were made to work hard.

After keeping the hosts at bay for the opening 15 minutes, Chinnor opened up a 14-0 lead, thanks to tries from Tom Burns and Jamie Townsend. Sam Angell converted both.

Cinderford’s James Moffat kicked two penalties either side of half-time.

But Chinnor responded well and Hopkin converted his own try to make it 21-6.

CJ Osazuwa was sin-binned for the visitors, leading to Moffat adding his third penalty of the match, but the hosts were unable to make the extra man count.

And with five minutes to go, Hopkin went over for an unconverted try to help secure Chinnor a bonus-point win.

Henley Hawks lost 51-17 at Canterbury.

They were 17-0 down after eight minutes as Ben Smart crossed twice. Ollie Best converted both and kicked a penalty.

Henley hit back through tries from Cameron Ives and David Hyde, but they found themselves 31-12 down at the break as Aden Moss and Guy Hilton crossed.

Best then converted his own try and Hilton added a second for the hosts, before Hawks No 8 Hyde also went over again as the Oxfordshire side trailed 43-17.

However, Canterbury added further points through a Best penalty and Hilton completed his hat-trick.
