CHINNOR climbed to the top of the table in emphatic style by hammering Exmouth 83-7 at Kingsey Road.

The home side ran in 13 tries in the National League 2 South clash, maintaining their unbeaten start to the season.

Luke Hibberd crossed four times and Henry Lamont grabbed a hat-trick against the south Devon side.

Hibberd’s unconverted score gave Chinnor the lead on five minutes, but the visitors hit back through Charlie Gibbings’ score.

George Meadows added the extras.

Chinnor, though, went on to lead 24-7 at the break as Greg Goodfellow, Lamont and Bevon Armitage crossed. Bertie Hopkin converted two of the tries.

The floodgates opened in the second half, with Hibberd adding three more tries, while Lamont wrapped up his hat-trick with two solo efforts late on.

Hopkin, Danny Barnes, CJ Osazuwa and Tom Burns also went over.

Fly half Hopkin converted seven of the tries.

Henley came from behind to beat Bury St Edmunds 41-36 at Dry Leas.

Sean Stapleton dived over and Scott Lyle converted for the visitors.

Henley replied as Tom Parton went over for an unconverted score and, despite a Lyle penalty, Bradley Cook also crossed.

George Jackson added the extras.

But they went into half-time trailing 24-15 as Lyle and Sam Sterling went over for converted tries.

Jackson kicked a penalty for Hawks.

A penalty try, which Jackson converted, boosted the hosts after the break, but visitors replied as Chris Lord ran in to stretch the lead to seven points.

However, Bury’s Nick Bingham was sin-binned and Henley’s positivity paid off.

Tom Emery, Liam O’Neill and Parton all went over, with Jackson converting twice to make it 41-29.

Cai Griffiths went over late on for Bury, with Lyle adding the extras, to pick up a bonus point.
