A LATE Will Watts try saw Gosford All Blacks earn their first victory of the season in a 15-12 win over Stow-on-the-Wold.

After a cagey and scoreless first half, it was not until the 50th minute that the hosts opened the scoring in the Southern Counties North clash.

A Tim Ellis penalty put All Blacks in front and it was 10-0 when Ben Bodinham raced over over. Ellis added the extras.

But a lapse in concentration allowed the visitors back into the match and two tries, one converted, saw them edge in front at 12-10.

Harry Sutton’s attempted drop goal sailed wide as Gosford looked for an answer, but they found it with three minutes to go.

Bodinham fed centre Watts, who, at pace, crashed over the line.

Ellis could not convert and while Stow pushed for a reply, a forward pass ended their hopes.

Bicester remain second after a 27-23 win over Beaconsfield.

The visitors led 15-0 after 20 minutes, thanks to two tries from Idrusu Labri, one converted, and a Freddie Pugh penalty.

Bicester replied through Christian Mann’s score, Tom Miles adding the extras.

But Pugh’s penalty made it 18-7 to Beaconsfield at half-time.

Bicester turned it around after the break to lead 21-18, thanks to tries from Charlie Bethell and Will Anns.

Dan Spencer converted both.

The visitors hit back as Daniel Cady sprinted over, but two Miles penalties ensured victory for Bicester.

Wallingford put in an under-par performance as they fell to a 29-5 defeat at league leaders Marlow.

James Norris crossed for an unconverted try for the south Oxfordshire side.
