GOSFORD All Blacks put in a lacklustre performance but did just enough to beat Chipping Norton 25-15.

BB&O Premier leaders Gosford took a 5-0 lead on 22 minutes when Ben Bodinham raced over.

The full back then ran in his second score, converted by Will Watts, to make it 12-0.

Tom Tanner crossed for Chipping Norton, before a Watts penalty extended All Blacks’ lead to ten points.

On 65 minutes, Harry Sutton went over and Watts added the extras to make it 22-5.

Dan Hughes was sin-binned for the visitors and Tom Goff ran in from 45 metres to reduce the deficit to 12 points.

Chippy’s Dan Lightfoot was next to score an unconverted try to make it 22-15.

But Sutton’s drop goal ensured Gosford had the last say.

Alchester lost 38-19 to second-placed Milton Keynes.

After trailing 19-0 at the break, the hosts started the second half brightly and Joe McEaneny went over with Matthew Flegg adding the extras.

Despite Milton Keynes replying with a converted try, Alchester dug in and Jack Briggs crossed to make it 26-12.

The visitors made sure of victory with two tries, but the hosts replied through Charlie Sermon. Flegg added the extras to complete the scoring.

Abingdon’s home match against Risborough was abandoned after forward Vince Barnes suffered a neck injury with the score at 26-8.

Barnes has been released from hospital and will make a full recovery, but will be unavailable for the rest of the season.
