GOSFORD All Blacks gained revenge for defeat earlier in the season with an 18-5 victory over Abingdon in the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier Division on Saturday.

A dour tussle saw neither side able to make an early breakthrough, with Gosford eventually going ahead five minutes before half-time when Dan Hughes forced his way over for an unconverted try.

Abingdon lock George Law was yellow-carded, but his side held out until the break.

Gosford extended their lead in the second period when scrum half Will Watts took a quick tap penalty and Chris Bennett eventually scored.

Watts added a penalty, and was then in the right place to go over and make it 18-0.

Abingdon got on the board late on when substitute scrum half Luke Matthews went over.

Wheatley lost 20-17 at Chesham in a thrilling clash.

Faringdon could not muster a late score as they lost 11-8 at home to Risborough in the Championship.

Trailing 5-0 at half-time and 8-0 soon after the restart, Faringdon got on the board with a Darren Clark penalty.

Another kick from Risborough extended their lead to 11-3, and although Darren Kenyon scored a late try, Faringdon ran out of time.

Harwell were edged out 29-25 at Crowthorne, while Didcot lost 12-0 at Berkshire Shire Hall.
