Matt Ferguson says London Welsh are stronger now than when they started the season, despite their poor form.

The Exiles lie rooted to the foot of the Aviva Premiership, with their league campaign resuming with a trip to Wasps on Sunday.

Welsh have suffered six successive league defeats, which were then followed by four cup losses, but assistant coach Ferguson insists the side have improved.

“I am under no illusions that we are going to have a really tough ask on Sunday,” he said.

“At the same time I am confident that we are starting this block of fixtures stronger than when we started against Exeter on the opening day.

“We have learnt a lot from those six weeks about what it takes to compete.”

Ferguson added: “Our frustration as players and coaches is that we feel we can ask questions of our opponents, but we have struggled to take that from the training match to the match pitch.

“There is a feeling now that we can go into the next block a bit more streetwise and with a little bit more understanding.”
