OXFORD University head coach James Wade says there is still a lot of work to do as they prepare for the 133rd Varsity Match.

Wade’s Dark Blues take on Worcester Cavaliers, the Championship club’s second team, at Iffley Road tonight (7.15).

The match marks exactly a month to go before Oxford face Cambridge University at Twickenham, where they will be targeting a record fifth successive victory.

Wade said: “We know that Cambridge are preparing well and the key for us is that the players know how much work we have to put in to enable us to perform at Twickenham.

“A large part of our work will be based on controlling our own game and cutting out the large number of basic errors we have been making.”

Oxford make two changes to the side that lost 34-31 at Bristol United last week, with flanker Sam Peter and centre Alexander Macdonald replacing Will Thomas and Basil Strang respectively.

The Dark Blues lost 34-25 to Worcester last year, with tries from Nick Gardner, Will Rowlands and Henry Lamont.

Tonight’s Armistice Day clash will see the club commemorate the 55 Blues who died in World War One.

As a mark of respect, all servicemen and women, past or present, will receive free admission.
