CONFERENCE LEAGUE SOUTH
OXFORD Cavaliers saw their three-match winning streak end with a battling 44-20 home defeat to leaders Sheffield Hallam Eagles.
Cavaliers led 16-14 at the break, but were sunk by the Eagles’ second-half onslaught.
Having lost 80-18 in Sheffield on the opening day of the season, this represented a big improvement for Oxford.
Ashley Brown, Wes Newton, Ed Vickers and Wise Rokobatitoa scored Cavaliers’ tries in an entertaining clash at Oxford RFC.
Andy Winfield and Jim Roden kicked a conversion apiece, but it was not enough to prevent unbeaten Sheffield running away with the match.
OXFORD Cavaliers A are still searching for their first win after going down to a 52-48 defeat at home to Gloucestershire Warriors in the West of England Premier League.
