OXFORD Harlequins captain Luke Brown was delighted after receiving the Oxfordshire Cup from county president Ken Bumpass.

“Since July 1 last year, we’ve been working very hard with the aim of winning the league and cup – and now we’ve achieved the double,” he said.

“We’ve had to work hard tonight as Banbury made it very difficult for us.

“We knew we had to stay patient and that the chances would come in the second half, which they did.”

Quins head coach, Steve Chadbone, looking forward to next season when they return to National 3 South West, said he was confident they could compete at that level He said: “We’ve got the club structure in place and have some talented players coming to join us. The future looks bright.”

“We left nothing out there,” said Banbury skipper Ed Phillips, who played down the affect of the disallowed try.

“You’ve got to respect the officials, but I’m delighted with the way we played.

“We gave it our all, but it was not enough.”
