TETLEY’S CHALLENGE CUP
OXFORD RL were dumped out in emphatic fashion with a 68-6 third-round defeat at Hunslet Hawks.
Hunslet were 52-0 up after a devastating first-half display featuring nine tries.
But Oxford did at least gain some respectability in the second period, with captain Alex Thompson scoring a try, converted by Jimmy Rowland.
Danny Maun and David March bagged first-half try doubles, with Liam Hood, Brooke Broughton, Matthew Tebb, Lewis Reed and Lee Mapels, while Andy Ballard kicked eight conversions.
After the break, Ballard and Luke Stenchion went over, while Ballard converted both.
Thompson’s converted consolation made it 64-6, but Mapels completed his brace for the final score.
Oxford will hope to do better when they host Hunslet in Kingstone Press Championship 1 on Sunday.
