RUGBY UNION: Chinnor are sucked into relegation mire
8:00am Tuesday 4th February 2014 in Rugby
Chinnor saw their National 2 South survival hopes take a battering, despite not playing this weekend.
The Thame-based club saw their home game with Ampthill postponed, due to a waterlogged pitch at Kingsey Road.
But they are now just three points above the relegation zone after results elsewhere went against them.
Victories for Dings Crusaders and London Irish Wild Geese meant they closed the gap on Chinnor.
With Exmouth and Bournemouth now looking doomed, Chinnor could be involved in a real dogfight to escape the third relegation spot.
Chinnor’s next two matches are away to Bishop’s Stortford and at home to Clifton.
But their defining moment could come in March when Launceston and Wild Geese both come to Kingsey Road.
Having won their first four league games, a run of just five wins from their next 16 is not the sort of form to instill huge confidence among the Chinnor faithful.
However, there is no doubt they have enough good players to avoid the drop.
