OXFORD Rugby League have boosted their ranks with the signing of centre Callum Mulkeen from the University of Gloucestershire All Golds.

The Ireland A international’s capture comes in the same week as prop Chris Clarke committed himself to Oxford for another season.

Mulkeen, who can also play in the second row, joins after appearing 16 times for fellow Kingstone Press Championship One side All Golds.

He said: “I have already experienced what it’s like to play with and against some of the players at the club and I have witnessed the success of Oxford as a new club and how well they have developed players that have been new to the game.

“I look forward to starting training with the club and developing my game both as a rugby player and as an athlete during pre-season.”

Oxford head coach Tony Benson said: “He is quick on his feet and elusive and with time in our team he will flourish.”

Clarke, 24, made ten appearances during an injury-hit debut campaign for Oxford after joining from Oldham and is eager for a bigger role in 2014.

“He is a very important part of our pack, he is a leader and full of aggression in attack and defence,” said Benson.

“He adds a lot to the team. Chris leads from the front and has a lot of experience and the talent for someone of his age.”
