Seb Jewell says London Welsh’s players have a lot to prove in today’s clash at Jersey.

The Exiles visit the Channel Islanders on the back of two successive league defeats and have lost top spot to Bristol, who have played one more match.

Welsh’s form has dipped in those losses to Bedford and London Scottish, but there is no need to panic, according to full back Jewell “I wouldn’t say we are worried,” he said.

“We are more disappointed and frustrated with our performances.

“Take nothing away from Bedford and London Scottish, but we were disappointed we didn’t go through with what we had worked on.

“We are pretty upset as a group.

“However, we were top at the halfway stage of the season and we have got to be pleased with that.

“We need to go back to what we are good at and get some more enjoyment back into our game.

“We have got a lot to prove.”

Welsh won their first nine league games and Jewell said they must target another such run.

“We were on top of the table every week, so we need to make sure we get back up there,” he said.

“We don’t want to lose then keep making excuses.

“We can’t afford to be losing to teams we should be beating.”
