HENLEY Hawks reached the halfway point of their season in tenth place after a 16-10 defeat at Loughborough Students.

Hawks were always playing catch up after conceding a try to Loughborough fly half Christopher Surman on three minutes.

Henley centre Danny Wells (pictured) replied with a penalty, but the students led 13-3 after 20 minutes.

Alexander Davies slotted a penalty before fellow wing Craig Dowsett went over.

Hawks hit back to trail 13-10.

Right wing Liam O’Neill scored a try, with Wells converting.

Davies slotted a second penalty after half-time, but Loughborough then had No 8 George Messum yellow-carded.

Henley captain Martin Nutt was sin-binned on 57 minutes, and although his side kept pressing, they came up short.
