WALLINGFORD could not hold on to their lead in a 29-10 defeat at Aylesbury.
The visitors went 7-3 up in the first half, although they were ultimately made to pay for an erratic display.
Gary Horne put Aylesbury ahead with a penalty, but Wallingford hit back when full back Ralph Smith chipped over the top and won the race to touch down the try, which fly half Olli Henderson converted.
Home wing Liam d’Almeida sprinted in for Horne to convert, while Henderson’s penalty made it 10-10 at the break.
Wing Ben Selwood fumbled Wallingford’s best chance in the second half, while flanker Kris Blaszko was yellow-carded.
Tries from Mike Evans, Jim Dodds and Horne, who converted two, sealed Aylesbury’s win, despite having a prop sin-binned.
Alchester sit second from bottom in the early-season table after losing 29-13 at Bletchley.
The hosts capitalised well on some handling and passing errors from the visitors, enabling Adam Griffiths, Matt Nobes and Dan Read to score in the first half, with Phillip Harman converting one.
Fly half Tom Barnes replied with a penalty for Alchester.
A try from Souava Rakikiki gave Alchester hope on 45 minutes, but Griffiths went over for his second, Harman converting.
Alchester made it 26-13 when No 8 Adam Thompson and scrum half Luke Kimber grounded the ball together from a rolling maul.
But Adam Dempsey wrapped it up with Bletchley’s fifth try.
