LONDON Welsh lock Rob Andrew has escaped further punishment after his sending-off against Bedford Blues in the Greene King IPA Championship.
Andrew received a second yellow card following a melee in Saturday’s match that also saw Bedford flanker Darren Fox red-carded.
The duo and Bedford No 8 Joe Vandermolen, who was cited for striking an opponent in the same match, all appeared before an RFU disciplinary panel on Tuesday night.
Andrew was charged under IRB Law 10.4.M, which refers to sportsmanship, but pleaded not guilty.
While the panel found Andrew guilty, his sending-off was deemed sufficient and he was ordered to pay £250 towards hearing costs.
Fox admitted striking an opponent and ordered to pay £250 costs, but the sending-off was also deemed sufficient.
Vandermolen’s citing was dismissed.
