When I spoke to Craig Chalmers for a pre-season feature on Chinnor, he was relishing the challenge ahead..
Chalmers spoke of the good feedback he received when he considered applying for the job of head coach.
Chinnor fans will now never get to see what impact the former Scotland man could have had on their club after he decided to quit as their coach before taking charge of a game
“We can have a real go at this league,” the 44-year-old said when we spoke in June.
“It is too early to say what a specific target might be.
“It will be about how the guys who come in blend with the guys that are here.
“There is enough quality here to improve. I have no doubt that this team can challenge right at the top end of this league.”
Chalmers went on to say that the club had made an immediate impression.
“I spoke to a lot of people about Chinnor and got some good feedback,” said Chalmers.
“I was quite impressed with what I saw. “It was very much like where I have come from at Melrose.
“It is a club that has been built up and run by people who have been here for a long, long time.
“I didn’t see the team playing until the beginning of April, but I have been fairly impressed by what I have seen.”
