OXFORDSHIRE SENIOR LEAGUE: Ben Turner Cup
BLETCHINGDON reached the semi-finals after beating ten-man Kidlington Old Boys 7-3 in extra-time.
Kidlington fought back well to level the match at 3-3 after normal time, despite having Danny Burrows sent off for a reckless tackle on Kyle Harris.
But favourites Bletchingdon, whose ground was the only one in the league to host a match, came on strong with four goals in the extra period.
Adam Wells put the hosts ahead with a 23rd-minute penalty awarded after his free-kick had struck Ryan Randall on the hand.
Kristian Thomas equalised after 30 minutes, stabbing the ball home after Burrows’s shot was excellently saved by Nick Lacey in the home goal.
After the break, Bletchingdon’s Jamie Wilkins flashed a shot in off a post for 2-1.
A scrappy game came to life in the final 15 minutes after Burrows’s red card.
The visitors equalised twice from set-pieces through substitutes Aaron Ainsworth and Chris Fujak, either side of Wikins’s second.
Deep into stoppage time, Richard Wells’s shot from an acute angle flashed into the Kidlington net via the underside of the bar.
The hook in the wet ground at the back of the net flew out and it was followed by the ball.
But the referee thought the shot had gone wide and awarded a goal kick, despite the home side’s protests.
Bletchingdon passed Old Boys off the pitch in extra time, winning thanks to two well-taken goals from Tom Williams, plus one each from Mark Gaul and Todd Parker-Hunt.
