OXFORD United’s season got off to a horror start when they were thrashed 10-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion in the SSE Women’s FA Cup.
The U’s were dumped out of the third round as Kate Natkiel hit a hat-trick, Amy Taylor and Sophie Perry struck twice each and there were also goals for Charlotte Gurr and Lisa Fulgence, as well as a Rosie Lane own goal.
Fielding four new faces, United, who had only reported back for pre-season training a fortnight ago, were behind after only two minutes.
They trailed 4-0 at half-time, but were unable to stop the onslaught in the second period, when the hosts ran riot to add six more goals to complete a thoroughly-miserable start to the season for Les Taylor’s side.
