LAURA Low hit a stoppage time winner as Oxford United Women came from behind to win 2-1 at London Bees in FA Women’s Super League 2.

The U’s found themselves behind at half-time to an Andria Georgiou penalty.

But they levelled just a minute after the break through Kayleigh Hines’s spectacular lob, before substitute Low’s late heroics.

The victory takes United to 14 points, already more than last season’s tally of 12, with ten games played.

After a six-week break due to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada, Les Taylor’s side found themselves trailing to second bottom Bees at The Hive.

Georgiou fired the hosts in front from the penalty spot after half an hour, following a clumsy challenge from Isi Meade on Emma Whitter.

Bees could have extended their advantage before the break, but goalkeeper Demi Lambourne denied Georgiou and Amber Gaylor.

But United needed less than a minute after the restart to pull themselves level.

Hines spotted Bees goalkeeper Sophie Harris off her line before launching an incredible 30-yard strike which soared over the helpless keeper’s head and into the net.

Lone striker Helen King almost replicated her effort to put United into the lead, latching onto a long ball and shooting narrowly over the bar from a similar distance.

But there were also a few nervy moments for the U’s at the other end, with Lambourne spilling Gaylor’s opportunistic shot, before seeing the ball scrambled clear to safety.

However, after piling on the pressure for much of the second half, Oxford were finally rewarded for their efforts as the match went into stoppage time.

Low raced clear onto a delightful through ball before striking magnificently past Harris into the top corner to complete the visitors’ comeback.
