OXFORD United say an issue which led to them being served with a winding-up petition this week has been resolved.

HM Revenue and Customs took out the measure against the Sky Bet League One club on Wednesday over an unpaid bill.

A hearing has been scheduled for May 9.

But when contacted by the Oxford Mail, the U's confirmed the balance had been paid on Thursday afternoon.

It appears to have stemmed from the club's takeover last month.

A long-awaited deal for Thai businessman Sumrith Thanakarnjanasuth, known as Tiger, to buy the controlling stake from Darryl Eales finally went through on February 22.

It is believed the transfer of power led to a brief gap in the finances, which was quickly rectified.

United host Peterborough United tomorrow in need of a good result to prevent them getting dragged into the relegation battle.

It is the first game at the Kassam Stadium since Mr Thanakarnjanasuth took charge, but the wait goes on for an announcement over a new manager.

On Tuesday, Tiger released a statement on the matter, saying a candidate with the 'wow' factor wanted to come, but the process would go on beyond the weekend - eight weeks since Pep Clotet was sacked by the previous board.
