Our weekly column with Oxford United’s managing director Greig Box Turnbull on the latest news from in and around club

OXFORD United bounced back superbly at Charlton this week, following our FA Cup reverse at Middlesbrough.

On both occasions the team were backed brilliantly by the Yellow Army – with our hosts in both boardrooms commenting on our superb support, as well as the quality of our football.

The exposure the club gained from the FA Cup at the weekend was fantastic, with major coverage in national newspapers and on television.

It was a great advert for the club and highlighted the attractive football we play and the backing we have.

Additionally, it provided excellent value for our key sponsors, who achieved brand awareness in front of millions of viewers at the weekend.

This sort of high-value exposure is crucial in terms of delivery for corporate partners and is a key selling point for our commercial team when talking to prospects.

The reach of the club never fails to amaze me – this week I have received letters from America, Germany, China and Africa.

The shop regularly takes online orders from America, Asia and Australia – and fans tune in from all over the globe on Yellow Player.

The potential is huge.

Closer to home, the attendance against MK Dons was 700 above our average and we are hopeful we will achieve another bumper gate for the visit of Bristol Rovers next week.

Your support really helps the club and ensures we can maintain a competitive playing squad.

For those of you travelling to Chesterfield tomorrow, have a safe trip and a great day.
