RYAN Taylor says Oxford United will look to exploit Rotherham United’s fragile confidence as they bid to cause an upset in the Emirates FA Cup third round.

The striker spent eight years coming through the ranks at the Millers before leaving in 2011, but has never played against them.

Now Taylor is looking to add more misery on a dreadful season, where they have had as many managers as wins in the Sky Bet Championship.

The third man in the hotseat is Paul Warne, who was on the coaching staff during Taylor’s time with Rotherham.

The United frontman knows what to expect and reckons there is a good chance for the League One underdogs to get into Monday’s fourth round draw.

He said: “They are the league above and have some top players, but things aren’t going for them at the minute in a tough league.

“They’re without a manager, the fitness coach is doing the job at the minute.

“He was there when I was at the club, so he will have them working hard, because I know that’s what he was about as a player.

“I think it’s there for us to take advantage of them.”

Taylor was part of the U’s side which beat Swansea City 3-2 at the same stage last season, but since then individual highlights have been few and far between.

A groin injury wiped out the second half of the season for the 28-year-old, who has two goals in 13 starts this season.

Taylor’s strike did send United on the way to a 3-0 replay win over Macclesfield Town in the previous round, but despite playing well on his return to the starting line-up in Monday’s victory over Gillingham, he knows more is required.

He said: “By my own admission I’ve not been good enough.

“I’ve not scored anywhere near enough goals, but it’s up to me to change that.

“I just need to keep working hard on the training ground, the more you do that the better chance you’ve got of things turning.

“I think I did pretty well in the (Gillingham) game and there’s still a lot more to come.

“I think I made a nuisance of myself, but the goals have got to come first and foremost.

“I’m looking to change that.”
