RUSSELL Slade is predicting a tight game against an Oxford United line-up with a balanced squad when he brings his Charlton Athletic side to the Kassam Stadium tomorrow.

The Addicks have made a steady start to their first campaign in the third tier since 2011/12.

Charlton have lost just once in the last seven league games, but are without a win in their last four.

Slade (pictured), who was appointed this summer to bring stability to the Valley following relegation from the Sky Bet Championship, has been impressed with the group Oxford head coach Michael Appleton has assembled this summer.

And with a total of only three goals in United’s last three games, the Charlton boss believes there will be little to choose between the teams.

“Oxford are a good side” Slade told his club’s website.

“They are developing all the time and they had a great season last year to win promotion to League One.

“They’ve lost their striker (Kemar Roofe) but have managed to bring in (Marvin) Johnson from Motherwell, so they have invested there.

“It looks like they have got a nice, balanced group and, so far, their games have been relatively tight.”
