KARL Robinson has revealed his admiration for a pair of Oxford United’s midfielders ahead of their clash with his Milton Keynes Dons tomorrow.

The Dons have made a sluggish start in their attempt to bounce back from relegation out of the Sky Bet Championship in May.

They have not won at home since March, while the U’s are searching for their first league victory on the road this season.

Robinson (pictured) should know the type of challenge United will pose after watching them several times on their way to automatic promotion last season.

And the Dons boss has spoken highly of two players in particular.

“John Lundstram is one of the best midfield players in the league and we’ve tried to sign Liam Sercombe plenty of times,” he told the MK Citizen.

“It’s a very exciting midfield three, and they’ve really recruited well.

“We know we’ll be in for a tough afternoon.

“We have to get our defence right, and we can start to turn our focus on how we can exploit them.”

He added: “Michael Appleton has done an amazing job.

“There are a lot of good things happening there and they’re coming off a huge derby win last Saturday.

“They’ll come here seeing it as a similar challenge.”
