INTEREST in Callum O'Dowda is intensifying, with Bristol City understood to be interested in making an approach for the Oxford United winger.

The 21-year-old has not travelled to Spain with the rest of the squad after reporting an illness which saw him miss the 1-1 draw with Solihull Moors on Saturday.

He has been linked with a move away for several months, but United - who lost Kemar Roofe to Leeds United for £3m last week - have stressed they do not want to sell.

It now appears they have a decision to make, with Championship side Bristol City rumoured to have opened talks over a potential seven-figure move.

Head coach Michael Appleton remains hopeful O'Dowda will fly to Spain to link up with the squad this week, but gave little away when asked last night about the situation.

He said: "I’ve got no idea what’s going on to be honest.

"I’m fully focused on the players who are over here."
