OXFORD United will look to bolster only their strikeforce during the emergency loan window – barring injuries.

As of Tuesday, clubs have been able to sign players on temporary deals and have until March 24 to complete their business.

United brought in forward Chris Maguire, striker Jordan Bowery, winger Zeli Ismail and full back Jonjoe Kenny during the January transfer window.

And with the U’s able to add to their squad over the next six weeks, there is one area in particular head coach Michael Appleton is still not content with.

When asked where he would be looking to strengthen, Appleton said: “The top of the pitch.

“I think everywhere else we are more than comfortable.”

However, any moves may have to wait until Maguire, who did not play a minute of football when back at Rotherham United after his loan spell at United ended, and Wolves loanee Ismail bed into the team.

Appleton added: “Chris was probably as sharp and as fit as he had been for a while when he left us, but obviously he has gone back to Rotherham and just been training with the kids so he is at a stage where he definitely needs minutes.

“Zeli has missed a lot of games and part of him coming here was to get as much game time as he can.

“We are just constantly trying to make sure that if we do make a decision on bringing someone in, we get people who can affect the starting XI.”
