LIAM Sercombe reckons Blackburn Rovers will be afraid of becoming Oxford United’s latest scalp when the sides meet at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.

The U’s have beaten four sides who play above Sky Bet League Two this season and will be attempting to make it a famous five in the Emirates FA Cup this weekend.

They made the fourth round with a stylish 3-2 win over Swansea City three weeks ago.

The televised victory thrust United into the spotlight and Sercombe, who scored against the Welsh club, believes it will have left Rovers fearing a repeat.

He said: “I can’t see why they wouldn’t after beating a Premier League side.

“I reckon a few of them will have watched the game.

“They must see our stats of how many chances we create. I think they will be afraid of us.

“The pressure’s off us.

“They’re a Championship side and we’ve done well to get through to the fourth round.

“But we’re confident we can go and beat them.

“We beat Swansea quite comfortably and the lads are very confident.

“I think their changing room will be more nervous than ours."

“We don’t go into these games thinking we’re a League Two side, we will go in level-headed.

“There are a lot of players who can perform at a higher level.”

United head into the game in much better form than their Championship opponents, having won 18 of their last 26 games in all competitions.

It has boosted hopes they can reach the fifth round for the first time in 22 seasons.

Sercombe, who signed from Exeter City in May, has rarely experienced such a positive mood in a squad.

He said: “When you’re in a team that’s winning as much as we are there’s no better feeling. You come in every day smiling."
