Oxford United have sold more than 1,000 season tickets in just nine days.

The U’s have been rewarded for dropping prices in all areas of the Kassam Stadium with a great response from supporters, who have been eager to snap-up the reduced tickets.

Helped with the signings of Kemar Roofe and Liam Sercombe this week, as well as the news that skipper Jake Wright, left back Joe Skarz, midfielder Danny Rose and goalkeeper Max Crocombe will all be staying at the club, United have been staggered by what they describe as an ‘unprecedented level of interest’.

More than 20 per cent of the sales have been to new or lapsed season-ticket holders, while the offer for under 13 supporters, which sees them receive a home shirt as well as a season ticket for just £49, has also been a huge hit.

Director of business operations, Kevin Smith, said: “It’s been a fantastic nine days at the club.

“There’s been a real buzz around the place.

“We couldn’t have wished for a better reaction to the prices.

“I’d like to thank the thousand or so supporters who have bought their seat in the first week of sales – this level of interest is unprecedented.

“We have already exceeded the number of under 13 season ticket holders we had last year and are well on course to add over 100 before the end of May.”

He added: “It is great to know that fans young and old will be right behind us for the new season.”
