A teacher is set to cycle 65 miles to raise much-needed funds for charity this weekend.

Howard Ebden, Director of Music at Chigwell School in High Road, Chigwell, will take to the road on Sunday (May 17) in hopes of raising money for charity, Lifebox, who distribute environment-appropriate equipment and education to hospitals around the world.

Mr Ebden, whose latest venture follows the fundraising efforts of the school's Chapel Choir which has already raised £45,000 for charity this year, will cycle alongside a parade of 2,500 classic cars from London to Brighton to make up his challenge.

The teacher has already raised £1,565 prior to his ride.

He said: "Every year 2,000 to 3,000 old minis drive from Crystal Palace to Brighton along the old A23.

"I am going to be chasing the minis on bicycle from London to Brighton.

"Any money I raise will be making an immediate difference to the safety of surgical care in countries where life-saving operations all too often become life-threatening."
