Terence is Sunderland's panto baddie

CORONATION Street’s Terence Maynard is a dab hand at ruffling the feathers of many Weatherfield residents on screen as Tony Stewart (Jason Grimshaw’s estranged Father) and now he has his sights set on Sunderland.

Maynard will join Sunderland Empire's panto cast of Aladdin as Abanazar, the ultimate villain of the piece, in a show running from December 11 until January 3.

The evil magician of the Christmas season can currently be seen in Edge Of Tomorrow alongside Tom Cruise (Sky) and the recent film All Things To All Men. Other film credits include A Bunch of Amateurs with Burt Reynolds and Guy Ritchie’s Revolver. He's also been seen in Spy for Sky TV, Merlin (three episodes), DCI Banks, Law And Order UK and Miranda Hart's Joke Shop to name but a few. Theatre includes the leading role of Billy Flynn in Chicago in the West End and the award-winning play Fences opposite Lenny Henry.

Alison Hammond will play Slave of the Ring in Aladdin and is a larger than life personality who has taken ITV’s This Morning by storm. She won plenty of fans thanks to last year's Strictly Come Dancing, bringing fun and laughter to the show with her partner Aljaz.

* BSL Signed performance, Wednesday, December 30 (2pm) and a Relaxed Performance will be held on Saturday, January 2 (2pm).
