AROUND 300 carers are expected to attend a fete to raise awareness of the unpaid work they carry out.
Eastwood MSP Ken Macinotsh is due to open tomorrow's family garden fete, which runs from 11am to 2pm, along with David Cherry, 17, who is East Renfrewshire's young carer of the year.
The event, in the grounds of Eastwood Park in Giffnock, East Renfrewshire, will kick off a week of activities to mark National Carers week.
Michelle McIntyre, development officer for East Renfrewshire Carers Centre, said: "Carers will have access to a specialist nurse and dietician. Many suffer from back pain and diabetes because of heavy lifting and poor diet."
