RIYADIAN, the star attraction on tonight's Saints and Sinners charity card at Hamilton, has sent most of the opposition scurrying for cover in the Glengoyne Single Highland Malt Conditions Stakes.

A narrow winner of the Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket on his only start last year, Paul Cole's colt faces just two rivals in this nine-furlong event.

The winner's cheque would come in handy for connections of Rickenbacker, who cost 120,000 guineas as a yearling, while Unconditional Love is the only entry to stand her ground.

Stirling-born Richard Quinn takes the ride on Riyadian whom Cole is aiming at the Prix de Saint Cloud later this month.

''We decided to run at Hamilton as the ground seems safe and not too fast for him,'' Cole said. ''He's just one gallop short at the moment so this should be good for him before he goes over to France on June 29.''

Lord Advocate, who scored his fifth course win at the Lanarkshire track nine days ago, bids to land the concluding Tennent Caledonian Breweries Handicap for the second year running.

His recent success got Bonkle trainer Donal Nolan off the mark for the year and the gelding gets on amazingly well with his young apprentice jockey Keith Sked.

Meanwhile, in the seller, Talented Ting is even more of a course specialist as he will be bidding for his eighth victory at Hamilton.

However, he is way out of form at the moment and his success at the 1995 Saints and Sinners meeting was the last time he visited the winner's enclosure.

The Saints and Sinners club of Scotland staged its first race meeting at Hamilton in 1965 when a huge crowd of 22,000 was in attendance.

Hundreds of thousands of pounds have been raised over the years and tonight's gathering should swell that total further.

Live music, prizes for the prettiest hat, and best-dressed couple are just a few of the attractions planned for the six-race card which comes under starter's orders at 7pm.

With a big crowd anticipated, the racecourse executive is advising patrons to come early and gates will be open two hours before the first race.
