ADAM Murray is hoping Mansfield Town’s fortunes have turned ahead of a return to Oxford United tomorrow.

The Stags have been hindered by a long injury list all season and, like their hosts at the Kassam Stadium, have often seen strong performances go unrewarded.

But after riding their luck in midweek to beat Luton Town 1-0, which saw them leapfrog the U’s, Murray has his fingers crossed it was a significant moment.

He told the Mansfield Chad: “I don’t want to tempt fate, but you look at some of the little things that happened on Tuesday and you wonder if Lady Luck has finally stepped into our dressing room?”

Murray scored a late winner when the sides met at Field Mill in August, haunting a club where he made 92 appearances across three seasons.

The 33-year-old was part of the squad which won promotion back to the Football League in 2010, so takes a keen interest in United’s situation.

He said: “They are still finding their feet like we are.

“But they are a huge club with huge backing and I am sure they will eventually get it right.

“This is a huge club for where it’s at and they expect success down there.

There is a lot of pressure to get success and the fans deserve it.

“But we are going there to win with a lot of confidence."
