OXFORD United Women’s side have enthusiastically backed supporters taking part in the Big Walk 2 tomorrow.

Groups of fans will set off from four different locations in Oxfordshire and cover 12 miles on foot to the Kassam Stadium in time for United’s game with Mansfield Town.

About 40 are taking part and will be accompanied by nine women’s players.

And they have donated the fines which had been accumulated in 2015, about £100, to boost the proceeds, which will be split between the club’s Youth and Community Trust and Oxford Domestic Abuse Services.

Les Taylor, manager of the women’s side, said: “The players came to me and said they wanted to take part in the walk – they feel very fortunate that the Yellow Army backs them so well and felt compelled to get involved.”

Milk Cup-winner Les Phillips is taking part on the route from Woodstock, while Michael Appleton will wave the walkers off from Thame.
