OXFORD United have signed teenage striker Alex Jakubiak on loan from Watford until January.

The frontman, who turns 18 later this month, completed the formalities this afternoon after playing in Scotland Under 19s' 2-0 defeat away to Belgium Under 19s last night.

Jakubiak will provide competition up front for United, alongside Carlton Morris, Danny Hylton and James Roberts.

His senior bow came in March in a loan spell at Braintree Town, scoring against Wrexham.

It was his only goal in 11 appearances for the Conference Premier side, nine of which were as a substitute.

Jakubiak returned to Watford and started in their final Championship fixture of the season, a 4-1 home defeat to Huddersfield Town.

Agreed we need an older head but if he turns out like Morris or Robbie Hall, he will do for me. Thought Morris was terrific last night.

Cos marsh is not cutting it! He couldn't play the lone striker role he wouldn't hold the ball up enough &, if he is to break through, needs to score regularly while out on loan or try playing as a winger.

Six months? January seems like just over 4 months away. Our so called last 6 months loanee Carlton M was until December 31st . Anyway ,best of luck - we needed a regular scorer - let it be Alex J .

They keep repeating that if a 'better' striker than we have becomes available, then they will pursue them. To be honest after seeing three of the pre seasons plus Burton and Bristol, I for one are just not concerned if we do not strengthen until January. It is perfectly clear that we have a team which will be mid table at least. Look at Scunthorpe last year, struggled down in the basement and sacked their manager before Christmas. They made good signings in the January window and were by far the outstanding team in the second half of the season. Keep faith for goodness sake.
